The competitions are usually based on three one minute rounds with a 20/30 second break, going to a 4th round in the event of a draw. The scoring system is the “10 point must system” where the round winner gains 10, the looser 9 or less depending on effective striking defence and control of the fight. If a person is disarmed 3 times in total the match is over. There are many different forms of competition stick fighting (most of which are practiced throughout the U.K), such as “Arnis” padded stick, where only a helmet is worn for protection but the stick is padded, “Call to Arms”, where there is a minimum amount of armour worn, kicking striking and takedowns are mixed with the use of live stick, “low armour” stick fighting where the rules are similar to that of W.E.K.A.F but only gloves & a helmet are worn. With many more styles being developed and practiced all the time.
